Ashwin Joseph
Counselling Psychologist
I try to create a space that is open for the client to expand themselves and their range of expression as much as they would like to.
I say I am a co-creator of their artistic process where they can play with elements and feel which one aligns where at that particular moment, reminding them that they have all the power and strengths to create something else later on if they feel like or need to.
My therapeutic work is rooted in the belief that healing does not always begin with answers. Sometimes, it begins with expression. With finally finding space to feel, create, move, speak, pause, or simply exist more honestly within one’s emotional world.
My Approach
Drawing from psychodrama, expressive arts, somatic work, and narrative approaches, My sessions often move beyond conversation alone. Emotions may emerge through storytelling, movement, creativity, silence, role play, artistic exploration, or spontaneous expression. Rather than guiding individuals toward a fixed idea of healing, my work invites curiosity, experimentation, emotional freedom, and deeper self-awareness. I call myself as a Co-creator of their therapeutic artistry where I aid them in bringing forth their experiences and give shades of color they could use or a different brush to show the intricate nuances of their process. All this which could lead to an explosive art piece, a quite calm symphony, something quirky, whatever the artist feels at that moment.
My Specializations
I work with adults, primarily between the ages of 25 and 50, navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, relationship and marital concerns, relationship conflict, parenting challenges, interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts, work-life balance, stress management, emotional challenges, identity and role conflicts, life transitions, and the process of finding greater clarity and fulfillment.
I have found that the issue people initially seek therapy for is often just one thread in a much larger story. As we gently explore together, that thread can lead to deeper patterns, emotions, and experiences that deserve attention. My approach is to welcome individuals as the complex, multifaceted people they are, creating a collaborative space where they can better understand themselves, navigate life’s challenges, strengthen their relationships, and move toward more meaningful, authentic, and connected lives.

It is hard to put into words how Ashwin has been as my therapist. All i can say is that he is a great therapist and does his utmost best to be present with the client. He really listens and has good judgement. He also takes any sort of criticism well. Any sort of negative emotion that comes up in therapy or even towards what he is doing, i have always brought it up and he has taken it in a way that opens up newer avenues in therapy. I am grateful for him to 'be'. (He also does more experiential stuff like psychodrama, so if that's someome's thing, can go for it!)
